Pride as a Platform for Strengthening Nordic – Baltic Cooperation 2024 08 01 – 2025 07 31

The project “Pride as a Platform for Strengthening Nordic – Baltic Cooperation” seeks to expand the capacity of NGOs in the Baltic States by sharing experience and knowledge with a Nordic partner, consolidating public support for the rights of the local LGBT communities and fostering impactful collaboration between NGOs, using pride as a platform for strengthening Nordic – Baltic cooperation.

Three major LGBT organizations in Baltic States, namely LGL (Lithuania), Mozaika (Latvia) and the Estonian LGBT Association (Estonia), two Baltic human rights organizations, namely the Latvian Centre for Human Rights and the Estonian Human Rights Centre, and their regional partner Samtökin ’78 (Iceland) will participate in further network cooperation, knowledge transfer for mutual benefit and sustainable experience exchange on best practices within the sector of human rights. The partners will participate in Tartu Pride 2024, Baltic Pride 2025 in Vilnius, and meetings during prides and in the interim, concluding with a presentation during the Baltic Pride 2025 International Human Rights Conference.

This consortium will provide an opportunity not only to expand partnerships, but also to learn and exchange best practices in countering anti-LGBTI rhetoric, promoting same-sex family protection in Lithuania, learning from the success stories in Nordic and Baltic countries, and exploring ways for social progress on LGBT rights in Lithuania. In addition, the indirect outcome of increased synergy, understanding and communication among the partner organizations from the Baltic States and the Nordic countries will be achieved as a result of the implemented project activities.

The project is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers.
