Visiting Lithuania

The websites www.lgl.lt/en/ and www.gayline.lt have information about LGBT organisations and events in Lithuania, plus community news, chat rooms and personal ads. Lithuania has a record of limited rights for the members of the LGBT community. However, the attitude towards LGBT human rights is steadily changing. In June, 2016 the Baltic Pride took place on the central avenue in the downtown of Vilnius for the third time, attracting a crowd of 3000 LGBT* community members and their allies.

Lithuania’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights association LGL is the country’s only NGO exclusively representing the interests of the local LGBT community. Within 20 years working for advocacy, awareness and community building, it pushes for progress in the field of LGBT human rights. The LGL office is located at Pylimo 21, which is also home to Lithuania’s only LGBT centre, open to all well-meaning visitors wanting to know more about LGBT rights here. Visit www.lgl.lt/en/ for more info in English on current events.

When visiting LGBT places and the LGBT friendly Places in Vilnius, one could feel like home. Most of them are located in the Old Town (Senamiestis), or within 10 minutes walking distance from the center. People are friendly and know how to have fun.
