Promoting LGBT human rights in Lithuania by Ensuring Sustainability of the National LGBT Rights Organization 2019 03 – 2021 03

fosiThe project seeks to promote LGBT human rights in Lithuania by ensuring sustainability of the National LGBT Rights Organization LGL through strategically tailored awareness raising, advocacy and community building activities. First of all, the association LGL will organize the Baltic Pride festival in 2019 and the Rainbow Days festival in 2020 with the view of raising awareness about challenges experienced by the members of the local LGBT community and advocating for comprehensive social and legal changes. Secondly, it will be sought to encourage the members of the local LGBT community to report the experienced instances of alleged discrimination and hate speech/hate crimes on grounds of sexual orientation and/or gender identity to the competent national authorities. Finally, the association LGL will seek to reconceptualize and to expand on the LGBT community center with the view of providing quality social services for the members of the local LGBT community and diversifying the funding sources of the organization.

The main goal of the project is to promote LGBT human rights in Lithuania by ensuring sustainability of the National LGBT Rights Organization LGL through strategically tailored awareness raising, advocacy and community building activities.

The main objectives of the project are identified within the framework of the proposed project workstreams, which are as follow:

Objective 1. To maintain the public visibility of the local LGBT community in the public sphere and to seize the opportunity of increased visibility with the view of advocating for comprehensive legal and social changes.

Objective 2. To encourage the members of the local LGBT community to repot the experienced instances of alleged discrimination and hate speech/hate crimes on grounds of sexual orientation and/or gender identity to the competent national authorities.

Objective 3. To provide the specifically tailored social services to the members of the local LGBT community and to diversify the funding sources of the organization through the reconceptualised and expanded LGBT Community Center.
