Taking place in Bulgaria, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia, the main objective of this project is to strengthen the civic engagement of LGBTIQ+ people from Central and Eastern Europe in the visioning and formulation of European strategic policy, particularly in areas that directly affect their lives.
The project is inspired by and builds on the EU initiative on European Citizens’ Panels, which forms part of the legacy of the Conference on the Future of Europe (2021–2022). The Qu(C)EEr Future project adapts this concept, with the following intervention structure:
Foresight workshops.
Foresight workshops will be organised in each of the six project countries, engaging 30 LGBTIQ+ participants per country (180 in total). These workshops will develop bold, queer visions for the future of the European Union and identify key policy and practice gaps that must be addressed to achieve these visions.
International Queer Citizens’ Panel I.
The first International Queer Citizens’ Panel will take place in Hungary and will bring together 40 participants from all partner countries. The panel will provide space to share national and transnational visions of a queer future, analyse and prioritise policy and practice gaps, and identify overarching directions for policies and interventions.
Co-design workshops.
Co-design workshops will be organised in each of the six project countries, involving 30 LGBTIQ+ participants per country (180 in total). Participants will deliberate on and co-create concrete intervention ideas and policy proposals, building on the outcomes of the previous stages.
International Queer Citizens’ Panel II.
The second International Queer Citizens’ Panel will take place in Bulgaria and will involve 40 participants. Drawing on the results of the co-design workshops, the panel will produce an LGBTIQ+ Citizens’ Report containing recommendations addressed to EU institutions, national governments, and civil society actors.
In the final stage, two key outputs will be disseminated:
- The Final LGBTIQ+ Citizens’ Report
- A project learning package on LGBTIQ+ participation processes
