On 23 October 2025, during the ILGA-Europe Annual Conference, representatives of the National LGBT Rights Organization LGL, the Tolerant Youth Association, and Freedom to Marry Global met with Laurynas Šedvydis, Chair of the Seimas Committee on Human Rights, to discuss the prospects for legal recognition of same-sex partnerships in Lithuania.

The discussion highlighted the importance of ensuring equality before the law for all residents of Lithuania and strengthening human rights protection in line with European human rights standards. Participants shared insights on possible legal solutions that could help secure recognition and social protection for same-sex couples.

The meeting was constructive and marked an important step toward fostering a more open dialogue between civil society and lawmakers on human rights issues.
