Following a meeting occurred in October, 2014 the National LGBT* Organization LGL launches online its Strategic Plan of the years 2015-2018.
The Strategic Plan of the years 2015-2018 attempts to outline LGL‘s vision, mission, its key values and objectives. At the core of LGL strategy for the following years there is a strong commitment for implementing LGBT* rights and fostering a respectful and safe social environment for LGBT* people in Lithuania.
In order to promote human rights and equal opportunities and the elimination of discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, the plan illustrates the strategic goals of the organization in the following fields: education, family relations, healthcare, prevention of hate crimes, work relations and employment, legal gender recognition and freedom of assembly and expression. To address the above mentioned goals in the next years, LGL’s applied methods and resources include strengthening the organization’s advocacy and communication skills, ensuring the institutional capacity building, an increased focus on the community recruitment and strengthening, sharpening the organization’s tool for strategic litigation and finally fostering strategic collaboration and coalition strengthening.
The Lithuanian version of the Strategic Plan of the year 2015-2018 was released in December, 2015 and was the result of a fruitful strategic planning session occurred on October 18th, in Vilnius, where the first concepts of the plans were discussed and developed. In that occasion, LGL staff, board members, and volunteers met in Vilnius with the goal to elaborate a strategic planning session through which continuity and consistency of organization‘s work would be ensured. The meeting provided an opportunity for everyone taking part in LGL‘s activities to contribute in shaping organization‘s vision for the future. Plus, it was an opportunity to exchange ideas and initiatives with every member of the organization in total transparency and respect of the others’ perspectives.
