2017 was a year of exciting challenges and inspiring victories for the National LGBT* rights organization LGL. Thanks to your encouragement and support, LGL was able to take many important steps aimed at improving the LGBT* human rights situation in Lithuania.
First of all, a breakthrough was finally made in national courts, securing human rights for transgender people. Furthermore, in 2017 the European Court of Human Rights called upon Lithuanian authorities to investigate cases of homophobic hate speech online more effectively. We are especially proud of the fact that this year, for the first time in Lithuanian history, Vilnius’ City Hall was illuminated in rainbow colors on the occasion of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia as a symbol of support for the LGBT* community.
LGL would like to give special thanks for your support in 2017. Your encouragement will inspire us in our efforts to secure greater equality for the LGBT* community in 2018.
We hope that your winter holiday season brings small miracles!
