On June 20–21, 2025, Eglė Kuktoraitė, Communication Manager at the National LGBT Rights Organization LGL, took part in the kick-off meeting of the international project “CLICK”, which took place in Girona, Spain. This meeting marks an important start to a new international initiative aimed at improving the well-being of LGBTIQ children, reducing the violence they face, and promoting inclusive environments through close cooperation between families, educators, and policymakers.
The project “CLICK: Connecting families, educators and policymakers to prevent violence and increase the well-being of LGBTIQ children through an intersectional approach” seeks to address the multiple forms of violence that LGBTIQ children may experience at home, in schools, and in public spaces. By adopting an intersectional perspective, the project considers various social dimensions—such as gender, ethnicity, and disability—that can intensify marginalization and discrimination. The project is implemented by a diverse consortium of partners across Europe, including NGOs, research institutions, academic bodies, and practitioners working with children and youth.
LGL is responsible for the communication, dissemination, and visibility aspects of the project. This includes increasing project visibility across different channels, developing informational materials, managing social media communication, producing video content, collaborating with the media, preparing scientific publications, and contributing to public discourse. One of the project’s key milestones will be an international final conference, which will not only summarize the results but also help to disseminate recommendations to the broader public and policymakers.
“We are committed to ensuring that this project reaches not only professionals but also the communities themselves—families, schools, and institutions. Only through joint efforts can we create a safer environment for all children,” said Eglė Kuktoraitė following the meeting.
The CLICK project will continue over several years, and the LGL team will provide ongoing updates about its progress and invite all those who care about children’s rights, equality, and respect for diversity to get involved.
The meeting took place under the framework of the project “CLICK: Connecting families, educators and policymakers to prevent violence and increase the well-being of LGBTIQ children through an intersectional approach”, funded by the CERV-2024-DAPHNE program of the European Union.
