Black History Month Commemorated with a Visit of Canadian Award-Winning Author

On 22 February 2024 the Embassy of Canada in Vilnius and the National LGBT rights organization LGL commemorated Black History Month with a visit of Professor Suzette Mayr, author of the award-winning novel The Sleeping Car Porter, the story of a Canadian man in the 1920s who confronts life’s challenges being black and gay.

Professor Mayr visited Lithuania on the occasion of Vilnius Book Fair, where she read her novel The Sleeping Car Porter. In the evening Ms. Agnes Pust, Chargée d’Affaires of the Embassy of Canada, and Mr. Vladimir Simonko, Executive Director of LGL, held a reception on in honour of Professor’s visit.
