On 24th-27th October, 2018 the representatives of the National LGBT rights organization LGL participated the 22nd ILGA-Europe annual conference. This year the theme of the conference was “Politics for Change: From Words into Action”.
During the conference the changes to the Constitution of ILGA-Europe were officially approved. The conference also included elections of new ILGA-Europe Board Members and host organization for 2020. In 2019 ILGA-Europe annual conference will take place in Prague, in 2020 – in Sofia.
LGL representatives took part in various meetings, workshops and panel discussions. Eglė Kuktoraitė, Communications Coordinator of LGL, presented the results of a LGBT school climate survey, carried out by LGL in summer 2017. During the conference European organizations carrying out activities in education also created a non-formal LGBT education network.
The participants of the conference were greeted by numerous prominent speakers including First Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans, UN Independent Expert on sexual orientation and gender identity Victor Madrigal-Borloz and MEP Sophie in ‘t Veld.
LGL representatives also took an opportunity to invite prominent LGBT rights activists and politicians to attend the Baltic Pride festival, organized in Vilnius on 4th-9th June, 2019.
