Ieva Ruzgytė, member of the National LGBT* rights organization LGL participated in an international LGBT* forum, held on 14th-19th May, 2017 in Salzburg (Austria). LGL member shares her experience regarding the fifth international LGBT* forum in Salzburg, held to commemorate the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT).

By participating in the forum, LGL member Ieva Ruzgytė aimed to draw attention to the LGBT* human rights situation in Lithuania and to learn about good practices in fighting discrimination in sports. “Participation in this forum was an invaluable and memorable experience. People I have met during the forum became members of family,” told Ieva.

Greetings from Salzburg! A city of culture, inspiration and indescribable beauty in Austria.

On 14th-19th May, 2017 an international LGBT* forum took place here. The participants of the forum were taken care of by Klaus Mueller with the whole Salzburg forum team and the breath-taking Leopoldskron castle.

I give special thanks to the representative of Sogidarity program Olga Daitche, Stiftung EVZ foundation (Germany) and the association LGL for close cooperation and planning of the visit.

It was an invaluable and memorable experience. I have met a lot of new interesting people, heard inspiring stories from LGBT* activists, learned to cooperate and define the term ‘family’. We went deep on good practices and developed new examples.

Sunday afternoon was started with a welcoming from Salzburg Global Seminar Vice President and the Head of the Program Clare Shine. We also heard a speech of Salzburg Global Seminar founder and Board Member Klaus Mueller. They are inspiring activists, wonderful hosts of the forum and excellent lecturers.
