Déjà vu party brought back Baltic Pride unity and gathered support for new LGBT* center

To remind of the unity and the fun we had during Baltic Pride in June 2016 and create more wonderful memories, the National LGBT Rights Organization LGL organized the Baltic Pride Déjà vu Party that took place on September 24th 2016.

The party was hosted by a cozy jazz bar Paviljonas, hidden amongst the trees in the small park, situated in Pylimo street. The venue for the party was carefully picked – it was the same place where the Pride House took place during the Baltic Pride week, so that participants could feel the atmosphere of the Baltic Pride not only by looking at the pictures and videos that were screened all night long but also by enjoying the scenery.

Instead of drag queen LaDiva Live, who performed during Baltic Pride, this role was taken by the spectacular Okeanide, who with her pink glitter graced this colorful event and instantly became the star of the evening. She warmly welcomed all the participants who could voluntarily pay a small donation  as the entrance fee and at the same time take part in the lottery and win a wonderful trip for two to Stockholm provided by Six Colors Travel.

The party was designed to meet various needs. People were given a chance to find a love interest early on as the party started with queer speed dating. The speed dating welcomed all people, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation, and was led by the same Okeanide who with her joyful spirit and various questions encouraged participants in creating cozy romantic atmosphere.

After the speed dating the dance floor was officially opened by Dj Ptychka who has played for the LGBT* audience since 1993 and this time had prepared a special new playlist. Afterwards Dj Mark Adam Harold followed by Filomino DJ`s won the stage with their wonderful mix of 90s street music and more recent hits. Apart from the dance floor there was an opportunity to relax at the coloring corner where participants could discover educational coloring book Share Your Colors and color the unique pictures. Demetra, association of HIV and AIDS affected women and their relatives, was also present and made available one minute free HIV test for everybody. Everyone who haven`t chosen their favorite item from Baltic Pride shop in June, could use the opportunity to do so on Saturday in Déjà Vu Shop. Apart from our usual internet shop goods, Baltic Pride photo album was introduced for the first time, a fine jewel to add to one’s bookcase.

After midnight the winner of the Six Colors Lottery was announced. Okeanide with the help of Alex, director of Six Colors Travel agency, withdrew a lucky number from the bowl that contained the numbers of all the participants. The lucky winner was Juliana, who looked a bit surprised but happy by the announcement. When asked whom she might take to this trip she said she did not know yet. We wish her a pleasant journey and thank the Six Colors Travel for donating the trip!

The donations gathered during the party will be used for a new LGBT* community center that LGL team is currently working on and that is going to be open in the following months, so you can already look forward for the next opportunity to celebrate at the opening ceremony!
