May 17th is celebrated worldwide as the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT). The National LGBT* Rights Organization LGL will celebrate this special occasion by organizing the fourth “Rainbow Days” 2018 festival. The programme of the festival will feature an opening ceremony of a rainbow crossing in the Vilnius City Center, the traditional trip of “Rainbow Bus” on the streets of Vilnius, theater plays and movie screenings, discussions, press conference and billboard campaign in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda.
This year the international slogan of the IDAHOT is “Alliances in Solidarity“. It seeks to raise awareness about the importance of solidarity among various groups in the society with the view of counteracting negative stereotypes against LGBT community. LGBT people are an integral part of each society and only by knowing each other better we will be able to achieve mutually important goals. The fourth “Rainbow Days” 2018 festival takes places during this important period, when our country Lithuania celebrates its 100th anniversary. Therefore we want to be able to remember together that this year we are celebrating not only 100 years for Lithuania, but also 100 years for LGBT community in Lithuania.
The “Rainbow Days” 2018 festival is partially funded by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship programme by the European Commission. The organizers are fully responsible for the contents of the festival and its programme. The “Rainbow Days” 2018 festival is partially funded by the project “#LGBT_LT: Raising Awareness through Visibility in Lithuania” (Agreement No. JUST-REC-DISC-AG-2016-02-777243).
