A same-sex kiss featured in a video for Lithuania’s entry in the Eurovision Song Contest

Vaidas Baumila and Monika Linkytė, Lithuania’s representatives in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, presented an official video clip for their song “This Time” on the 13th of April 2015 that features a same-sex kiss.

An idea of a video clip to show different couples kissing was developed by the Lithuanian team for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest to take place in Vienna in May. “The video clip is sweet and lovable. It is simple and thus a little bit unusual in the context of Eurovision. Also, it is a social experiment to some extent,” explained the Director of the video clip Algina Navickaitė.

The video clip features scenes from a concert performed live. Lithuania’s Eurovision team invited people who have never heard the song to take part in the making of the video.

The team also announced a contest encouraging Lithuanians to send photos of their kisses. The winners of the contest had an opportunity to take part in the video. Both singers stressed that couples of different ages, genders and sexual orientations were all welcome to be featured in their video.

The two young and well-known Lithuanian singers V. Baumila and M. Linkytė will perform their song during the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest on the 21st of May, 2015.

The national LGBT* rights organization LGL wishes them the very best of luck and thanks them for the progressive, inclusive and forward-thinking message contained within their video.
