LGL participates in ANSO conference

From 1st till 8th of October 2011 there was an ANSO Annual Conference held in Stockholm. The conference Loud and Visible: Queering Up the Media was hosted by SFQ – the Swedish Federation of LGBTQ Student Organizations. Three representatives of Lithuanian Gay League participated in the event.
Young LGBTQ activists from the Nordic countries, Poland and the Baltic states came together and discussed how to use technology to capture their own experiences and social realities, as well as the opinions and ideas, in a variety of multimedia forms. The training was based on strategies used in “10 Tactics: Turning Information into Action”, a collection of 35 inspiring stories of how advocates around the world have used digital technologies to create positive change.
Besides taking part in various activities based on non-formal education method, the participants have been assigned to prepare a workshop themselves. Divided into groups, the activists worked hard to organize the structure and eventually hold workshops on tools and tactics for communicating a cause, for mobile advocacy and for digital security. After a week of intensive training, the participants went back home, equipped with new skills and useful knowledge, willing to adapt them to their own cultural and political contexts.
LGL is also proud to announce that one of our members – Ingrida Stankeviciute – was elected to the new ANSO board.
