LGL took part in Baltic Pride 2012

LGL participated in Baltic Pride 2012 with a team of around 25 people. Baltic Pride took place this year in Riga, Latvia, with a week of film screenings, seminars and workshops. The main event, March for Equality, took part on Saturday 2 June in central Riga. The march for LGBT rights and equality gathered in total around 400 people from the Baltic States and the wider international community.
Specials guests to this year’s Baltic Pride included US Ambassador to Latvia Judith Garber and Deputy Assistant Secretary from the US State Department Thomas O. Melia, who both emphasized the message that gay rights are human rights.
LGL’s team marched right behind Mozaika, the main organizer of the Pride event, carrying an impressive 30-metre rainbow flag. Later during the rally “Make Some Noise for Human Rights” held in Germanes Park, LGL’s choir Rainbow Friends performed songs in Lithuanian and English.
