On 29th of September, 2022 the National LGBT rights organization LGL was delighted to welcome H.E. Ambassador of the United States of America to Lithuania Mr. Robert. L Gilchrist and the Public Affairs Officer at the US Embassy in Vilnius, Mr. Drewry Philip.

Both guests are supportive of the LGBTQI+ community and wish to see, as soon as possible, right evolutions within the Lithuanian society. Thus, several LGL programs were discussed during the meeting such as LGBT children’s rights, notably the anti-bullying program implemented by LGL. But also, among others, the project aiming to fight hate speech and IT courses for underprivileged social groups.

The necessity to have an action plan for LGBTQI+ rights proposed and implemented by the Lithuanian Government was addressed as well.

Finally, the meeting was the opportunity for the US Ambassador and the Public Affairs Officer to express their desire to support the work of LGL and to show their willingness to engage in the future projects and events of the organization.
