On 3 June, 2022 the Baltic Pride 2022 International Conference Proud Cities Summit // Lithuanian Diversity Charter Annual Conference was held in partnership with the Lithuanian Diversity Charter at Vilnius Town Hall.
“Proud Cities Summit” is an international conference where mayors from Europe and Canada, business, public sector and NGOs representatives gathered to share their insights on equal opportunities, diversity and inclusion.
Remigijus Šimašius, the mayor of Vilnius City, Jessica Stern, the U.S. special envoy to advance the human rights of LGBTQI+ persons, mayors from Europe and Canada discussed how municipalities can contribute to creating open and friendly cities for all, regardless of their age, sex, nationality, race, religion, social status, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity.
Businesses shared how they ensure equal opportunities to their staff and customers, and discussed how they practically live up to diversity and human rights- related commitments.
Representatives of the United Nations and other international organisations talked about the integration of migrants in the EU and how it contributes to cities and local communities.
Finally, on the eve of Baltic Pride, we discussed the situation of LGBT+ persons and the role of politicians and business in improving it.
