A Protest Held near the Lithuanian Parliament in Support for Partnership and Equality

On 21 March, 2022 a peaceful protest near the Lithuanian Parliament in support for same-sex partnership and LGBT equality, initiated by actress Elžbieta Latėnaitė, was held.

A crowd of LGBT persons and their allies called for the Law on Partnership not to be removed from the agenda of the Parliament.

“I hope that some politicians will curb their populist needs and stop using the war in Ukraine as a pretext to resist the changes that our community has been waiting for since the restoration of independence. It is time to repay the debt to our community, which contributes to the well-being of our state and to remain united in the face of our enemy. We will all feel much safer then”, commented Vladimir Simonko, Executive Director of the National LGBT rights organization LGL.
