LGL‘s social videos feature experiences of Lithuanian transgender persons

In November, 2015 the national LGBT* rights organization LGL filmed 2 social videos for its social campaign „#TRANS_LT“, aiming to increase visibility of transgender persons in Lithuania. The social videos, filmed by a creative team of LGL and local movie director Romas Zabarauskas, feature the members of the local trans* community sharing the challenges they face due to the non-existing procedure of legal gender recognition in Lithuania and inviting the viewers to sign a special online petition.

LGL‘s online petition, encouraging the policy and decision makers to develop a comprehensive legislative solutions with the view of implementing human rights standards for transgender individuals, will be launched in December, 2015. The collected signatures will be later delivered to the Human Rights Committee within the Lithuanian Parliament in order to indicate that the currently proposed legislation is not sufficient for ensuring the effective implementation of the right to legal gender recognition.

The social videos will be distributed through the social media on December 7th, 2015. The videos will be officially launched during the Trans* Voices event, organized by LGL on December 8th, 2015. The event will also include a photo exhibition By the Way (photographs of transgender individuals by an artist Arcana Femina).
