In order to seek for a constructive dialogue between LGBT* people and religious communities, the member organizations of the National Equality and Diversity Forum (NEDF), including the national LGBT* rights organization LGL, in collaboration with European Network on Religion and Belief organized an international seminar-discussion “Religion, traditional values and human rights” on the 11th of September, 2015 at the Embassy of Finland.
The attendees of the seminar were greeted by the Equal Opportunities Ombudsperson of the Republic of Lithuania Agneta Lobačevskytė. The director of New Religions Research and Information Center and sociologist of Vytautas Magnus university dr. Milda Ališauskienė and the president of European Network on Religion and Belief (ENORB) Alan Murray also delivered their speeches.
The topics covered during the seminar-discussion focused on good practices of the European states, issues of LGBT* rights in the context of religion and collaborative opportunities between LGBT* people and religious communities. Representatives of various religious communities and human rights organizations as well as everyone concerned about the field of human rights, in particular rights of LGBT*, in the context of religion also actively participated in the event.
