“Reaching OUT to LGBT Youth” is an individual EVS project wich took place in Lithuania between August 2007 and April 2008. An English volunteer has been hosted by Lithuanian Gay League and carried out the activities in organisation’s office located in VIlnius.
An overall objective of the project was to bring together our knowledge, skills, views with volunteer’s ideas, initiatives, experience, in developing new tools for overcoming homophobia and social exclusion in Lithuania and Europe.
The project aimed to:
- Develop new means, approaches and methods of work with local LGBT youth community
- Strengthen and develop international cooperation
- Encourage active partecipation of young LGBT persons
- Facilitate and learning process for the volunteer to develop pratical skills, acquire knowledge, express ideas
Following activities have been carried out during the project:
- Introduction to Lithuanian Gay League organisation (mission, values, fields of activity, strategic plan, ongoing projects). Overview of anti-discrimination legislation etc.
- Partecipation in international events
- Help with organizing events (ILGA-Europe annual conference in Vilnius etc.)
- Facilitating international youth communication and cooperation
