Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year and in Vilnius it was celebrated yet again by a collective bike ride. On 27th August, 2017 hundreds of participants shared a sunny Sunday together conquering 10 kilometres around various neighbourhoods of Vilnius.
Embassy of Israel in Vilnius brought together a large number of participants who were joined by Israeli H.E. Amir Maimon, Ambassador of Israel. He explained the concept of Rosh Hashanah, presented Israeli New Year‘s traditions and awarded raffle winners with nice presents in the end.
National LGBT* Riights Organization LGL had it‘s own team among participants composed of the European Voluntary Service (EVS) volunteer Tatiana, her mentor Nadia and a former employee Rasa. In their own words “There is no better way to spend a Sunday morning than promoting healthy lifestyle and celebrating an important jewish tradition among such a happy and active crowd of people.“
LGL had an opportunity to collaborate with the Embassy of Israel in Vilnius on various occasions. The forthcoming one is an Israeli LGBT*-themed screening of the movie Out in the Dark (2012) on the occasion of the International Coming Out Day 2017.
LGL is carrying out the 10-month project “Democracy and Art Intertwined: Working Towards Empowered and Active LGBT Community and Allies in Lithuania” under the Erasmus+ program EVS (European Voluntary Service).
