Exclusive Baltic Pride 2016 event “Pride Voices” Held at the Russian Drama Theater

The National LGBT* Rights Organization LGL invited to the Baltic Pride 2016 cultural event “Pride Voices”, which took place on June 16th, 2016 at the Lithuanian Russian Drama Theater. During the “Pride Voices” event internationally distinguished LGBT* people and allies shared their personal testimonies within the broader struggle for LGBT* equality.

The list of speakers for the “Pride Voices” event included Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir (the former Prime Minister of Iceland) and her wife, Jónína Leósdóttir (journalist and writer), Ulrike Lunacek (Vice President of the European Parliament), Judy Shepard and Dennis Shepard (parents of Matthew Shepard) and Wamala Dennis Mawejje (LGBT* activist from Uganda).

The participants of the “Pride Voices” event also had an opportunity to enjoy a colorful and entertaining cultural programme. The “Pride Voices” event encouraged the local LGBT* community to speak about experienced injustices and to actively defend the LGBT* human rights.
