Are you ready for our Book Club’s fifth event? This time, we want to take you on a trip to discover the reasons and dimensions of your jealousy, and how to not push it away, but instead use this pesky emotion to learn how to be more self-assured.

The book we are using this time is called “The Ethical Slut – A Practical Guide to Polyamory, Open Relationships & Other Adventures” by Dossie Easton and Janet Hardy, and to be more exact we’ll be looking at the chapter “Roadmaps through Jealousy”. Don’t be scared off by the title, as the authors don’t use the term “slut” as a derogatory one but want to reclaim it as a term of endearment for someone who celebrates their sexuality. Also, even though the title only includes non-monogamous relationship forms in the title, parts of the book, including our chapter, are very applicable to monogamous people as well!

The chapter starts by trying to define jealousy – but in a way that might be specific to you as an individual –, goes on by showing us how to unlearn and disempower our jealousy and ends with giving us tips on how to power our way through this feeling. It’s intercepted by stories of personal experiences and different practical exercises. As mentioned before, it’s rather directed at non-monogamous folks, but monogamous people can definitely also profit from the authors insights.

We will be meeting on May 29th in the LGBT centre in a comfortable atmosphere to discuss this topic. The idea of the Book Club is to discuss a particular topic in a cosy atmosphere together with a cup of tea and some good literature. Every three weeks a chapter from a book on a particular topic will be put online to read in advance and then to discuss our thoughts together.

LGL is carrying out the 10-month project “Disappearing Borders: Empowering LGBT Community and Allies In Lithuania” under the Erasmus+ program EVS (European Voluntary Service).
