Discussion on Partnership Law in Lithuania

14DISCUS-ANGNational LGBT* Rights Organization LGL, in cooperation with the Institute of International Relations and Political Science (Vilnius University) and the MP Viktorija Čmilyte-Nielsen, organizes a public debate among the academic community and the general public about the necessity of introducing the law on registered partnerships in Lithuania. At the moment Lithuania is one of the six EU Member states with no possibility for legal recognition of same-sex families. The partnership law is also relevant for different-sex couples, who do not live in a marriage. What steps do we have to take in order to promote mutual understanding regarding this sensitive topic in the society? The panel discussion will feature current MPs (from the political groups of Liberal Movement, Homeland Union and Peasants & Greens), representatives of civil society organizations and political commentators.

The event will be held in Lithuanian.
