Russian entry told Gay Star News ‘everyone is equal’.

Pride flags flew clearly and proudly during Russia’s Eurovision semi-final performance last night (19 May).

Polina Gagarina, the Russian act for this yearly camp song contest held in Vienna, Austria, sang A Million Voices. At one point during the performance, the audience were shown and all you could see were rainbow flags. People were pretty happy about it.

‘Loving all the gay flags during Russia’s performance,’ one said on Twitter.

‘The pride flags are making me so so happy. #eurovision’ another said.

At the moment, the National LGBT* Organisation LGL is embracing Amnesty International’s campaign for Eurovision in the name  of tolerance (#RespectDiversity). The social campaign seeks to draw attention  to the promotion of respect and diversity in society. During his visit to Vienna, Executive Director of LGL Vladimir Simonko was actively involved in supporting Amnesty International’s social campaign. Simonko invited the stars to support the campaign by taking photos with the campaign slogan.
