LGL Representative Participated in the Annual “IGLYO” Conference in Edinburgh

On October 4-7, 2018 Eglė Kuktoraitė, Communications Coordinator of National LGBT* rights organization LGL, participated in the annual conference organized by the international LGBTI youth and student organization “IGLYO” in Edinburgh (United Kingdom).

During the annual “IGLYO” conference, members of the organization had an opportunity to discuss the future goals for “IGLYO”, admit new members, participate in various workshops, share valuable experience, partake in film screenings and, of course, get to learn more about Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. “IGLYO” members strongly expressed the need to react to the current LGBT human rights issues and come up with new strategies and goals for “IGLYO”, so that it can establish itself as a one of the key players.

Local organization “LBGT Youth Scotland” helped to plan the conference. They not only introduced their organization but also ensured interesting free time for the participants. In 2019 “IGLYO” conference will take place in Helsinki (Finland), in 2020 – in Brussels (Belgium).

During the conference, three new members of the “IGLYO” Board were elected: Yuri Yoursky (Estonia), Petra Tomasic (Croatia) and Michael Gowan (Scotland, United Kingdom).

“I’m happy that LGBTI youth organizations can talk about LGBTI rights issues in Europe and be one step closer to solving these problems. Members of the organization urged the new Board members to try and make IGLYO more inclusive to every LGBTI youth” – said the Communications Coordinator of LGL.
