LGL Representative Participated in the Annual “IGLYO” Conference in Zagreb (Croatia)

On September 29 – October 1, 2017 Eglė Kuktoraitė, Communications Coordinator of the National LGBT* rights organization LGL, participated in the annual conference of the international LGBTI youth organization “IGLYO” in Zagreb (Croatia).

During the annual “IGLYO” conference, representatives of member organizations had an opportunity to discuss activities of “IGLYO”, elect its new Board Members, participate in various workshops, share good practices, attend the screening of a film about LGBT* march, and, of course, get acquainted with Zagreb – the capital city of Croatia. “IGLYO” member organizations expressed the necessity to quickly and appropriately react to any emerging LGBTI human rights issue and encouraged “IGLYO” Board Members to work on HIV/AIDS prevention and to provide support for member organizations working with LGBTI asylum seekers.

By secret vote during the conference, representatives of member organizations elected four new “IGLYO” Board Members: Marine Kurtanidze (Georgia), Anna Robinson (Belgium), Jorge Maria Londono (Sweden) and Evan Ana Grm (Slovenia).

The annual “IGLYO” conference was supported by the local organization “Zagreb Pride”, whose representatives not only presented its activities, but also provided great music at the dance floor. In 2018, the annual “IGLYO” conference will be organized in Edinburgh (UK).

“I’m happy that LGBTI youth organizations are able to jointly talk about LGBTI human rights issues in Europe and to take a step ahead when there is a need to act in solving these issues. Member organizations have encouraged the new Board Members to flexibly react to new developments in LGBTI human rights area and to contribute to closer cooperation between “IGLYO” and its member organizations”, commented LGL’s Communications Coordinator.
