LGL‘s Executive Director Participated in a Conference on LGBTIQ Road Map in Malta

On February 22d-23rd, 2017 Vladimir Simonko, Executive Director of the National LGBT* rights organization LGL, participated in a high level ministerial conference on LGBTIQ road map, held on the occasion of the presidency of the Council of the EU in Malta.

The conference on LGBTIQ road map witnessed the first reporting back on the European Commission’s implementation of the ‘List of Actions to advance LGBTIQ equality’, presented by Tiina Astola, Director-General for Justice and Consumers of the European Commision.

During the conference Michael O’Flaherty’, Director of the European Union Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) also introduced the participants with an overview of ten years of FRA‘s European LGBTI research and recommendations.

Additionally, the conference was intended to provide a forum for discussion on progress that can be achieved at national level through policy making and legislative initiatives. National ministers responsible for the fields of education, healthcare and public safety thus participated to discuss challenges and solutions in their respective fields.
